Prayer: A Believer's Responsibility - Part 2

main image
Hello friend!
We live in a time when God needs strong men and women who will not be intimidated by the morally corrupted society of today. In Ezekiel 22, we see a similar display of a corrupted society where people who had rejected the ways of God and did what seemed right in their own eyes. God raised up a prophet by the name of Ezekiel to warn them of their wicked ways. In fact, God always warns people before He brings judgment on the nation. Ezekiel means "strength of God." Ezekiel told them what they needed to do to change their course of action. He also addressed the following conditions that were corrupting the society:
  1. The existence of a national decline due to injustice, corruption, and shame
  2. A lack of moral consciousness due to the neglect of the prophets to inform people of their sin.
  3. Ezekiel informed the people that judgment could be avoided if God could find someone who would care enough to intercede for the nation.
When a society decides to remove all of its moral values with no consciousness of God, that society will end up in chaos. Every society runs on its values and the values of the society determine the morality of that community. When God's people fail to take a stand for moral values, society will suffer because of it.
The greatest influence of the church in human society is its moral authority.
In Verse 30, of Ezekiel 22, God says, "So I sought for a man among them who should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found none." God said that He wouldn't send judgment if someone would pray.
The only way a nation can be saved from spiritual decline is through
a spiritual awakening of intercessory prayer that is founded on repentance.
The modern day church is under indictment for their lack of prayer for the nations and people of this world. If we as the church don't pray for people and if we don't take heed to our assignment to warn them, their blood will be on our hands. We need to live by this message. "Prayer- A Believer's Responsibility on Earth."

Remember:  Spiritual Success begins on Sunday Morning!
Every action taken by God in the earth realm requires
the involvement of praying believers.
To see any moral change in any society, God's divine assistance will be needed.  How do we get God involved? He will get involved when we start to pray. (see 2 Chronicles 7:14) Prayer is our invitation to God to intervene. We could say that prayer is the emergency number for the church. We dial that number and the forces go into motion to help us. When we get on our knees and intercede for our nation, God will move on our behalf. Like Jesus, we will then experience success in our lives. What made Jesus successful? He had a prayer life. Jesus went from one place of prayer to another place of prayer, and the miracles were a byproduct of His prayer life.
Any influence from the supernatural realm is only legal through mankind's ability
to pray the will of God effectively.

What is God's will for the church? 1 John 5:14 (Amplified Bible) says, "And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in him: [We are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us." Verse 15 goes on to say that if we know He listens to us in whatever we ask, "...we also know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the requests made of Him."

Prayer is meant to be one of the most exciting aspects of the Christian life.
How do we know the will of God? When we go to a restaurant, they bring us a menu first. The menu lets us know what they serve in the restaurant. We can order from the menu with confidence and assurance. The Word of God lets us know how He thinks about things in the earth. The Word of God is His will (menu). When we pray according to the will of God, we can expect to get results because we are doing things God's way and not our own way. James 5:16 confirms this. "The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available, dynamic in its working." We experienced the power of God and we got saved because somebody prayed for us to know Him.

Nothing good will happen in the earth if believers do not pray. So we pray for the lost and for our loved ones to get saved. When we pray it affects the atmosphere. Prayer results in God establishing His authority and structure between heaven and earth.

When we pray we are not trying to convince God to do something.
We are giving him the authority to do it.
In 1 Timothy 2:1-2, God establishes the priority of prayer. "Therefore I exhort first of all supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty." So, we are to pray first. All men need someone to pray for them. We are to pray that God will send laborers into the harvest field. We are to pray for our leaders in government and those in authority so that we will lead a quiet and peaceful life. This is not the current condition of our societies because we are not praying.
We need to spend more time praying than complaining. When we pray for people we give God something to work with.
